Blogs and Social Networks Updates!

We wanted to list some of the coolest of updates on the best of Blogs and Social Networks and Internet related sites! Tonights show is going to go into detail on all the updates at our favorite Blogs and Social Networks sites and some other related networking sites :)

Listen into BlogsAndSocialNetworks.info our Updates Show or follow some of the links below:

First is Google :) GMail to be precise! Find out what has been keeping the GMail team busy by following this link:

http://mail.google.com/mail/help/about_whatsnew.html

To access the "what's new" at GMail Labs click the "Labs Tab" in the GMail settings while logged into your GMail account :)

This little blurb is found at the top and I thought it important to print it here as well:

"Gmail Labs: Some crazy experimental stuff."
"Gmail Labs is a testing ground for experimental features that aren't quite ready for primetime. They may change, break or disappear at any time.
If (when) a Labs feature breaks, and you're having trouble loading your inbox, there's an escape hatch. Use http://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0" Just in case anyone needed it :)

Buttons to Enable or Disable are listed right next to the desired new features (last check there was 42 current lab choices at GMail Labs).

Stevie uncovered the newness at MySpace as she went digging for the cool new features there and we will go into that bag of goodies on the show :)

Utterli.com, a podcasting "shout out" style Blog Social Network, has some great 2009 updates! Utterli has group calling, video processing improvements, an Utterli Desktop Application for Ubuntu.com Amazon Web Services site. Check out more on the show or visit the Utterli Blog.

Trusera.com is a brilliant one of a kind Health Social network that is in need of partners. As far as we see out there on the net, there isn't anything in the way of a competitive site, so investors check this one out :)

YouTube.com has some awesome new updates like the collaborative annotations where you can invite friends to also add speech bubbles, notes, and spotlights to your videos :) Listen into the show for more or follow the link below to the YouTube Blog:

http://www.youtube.com/blog?entry=cfPYFjnzJIk

Link for information on watching YouTube videos with Windows Mobile and Nokia S60 phones.

Zimbio.com is still as cool as ever! The Interactive magazine - wiki - blog and article categorizer - super site! Named as one of the fastest growing sites by Nielsen, Zimbio is rocking the net :) Check out more updates on Zimbio at the company wiki:

http://www.zimbio.com/Zimbio

The biggest updates are a pruning really of some awesome ideas that are taking up a bit more time and space and not as needed as all that at present. Great ideas need to shed to skin along the way sometimes and Zimbio has chosen well:

"2/9/09

Features Removed:

* Covers (embedded cover images will still work, but you can't edit them or create new ones)
* Member Messages (drop an email to support [at] zimbio.com if you have questions for us)
* Linking personal photo services (Flickr, Smugmug, Kodak)
* Linking personal IM services (AIM, Skype, Yahoo)
* Dashboard Favorites and Subscription Packs
* Private Zines
* Zine Recent Contributions RSS Feed
* Zine Badges and Widgets
* Zine OPML support
* Zine About Page (editing functionality moved to Manage Zine page)
* Zimbio Pilot on Article Pages"

No worries with the skimming off the top, the features that Zimbio offers are brilliant and you are indeed missing out if you are not yet signed up with the free to use Zimbio Blog, Article, Wiki Categorization Super Site!

Live Journal! Join in on the Global Dialogue at Global Views and discuss news and current events with Journalists from Live Journal International Partner Newspapers.

Blogs and Social Networks Christmas Blog Coolies

We found some super Christmas Blog sites out there (quite a few here at Googles Blogspot :) and we wanted to let you know what you can find at some of the great Christmas blog sites.

The first site to mention isn't a "Christmas blog" in itself, but they have an outstanding post on 10 Fantastic Christmas Inspired Tutorials that we thought very cool :)

MyInkBlog has a post of tutorial links for you to create your own Christmas Wallpaper, Creative Christmas cards, Christmas Greetings Postcards, Illustrations, Glittery Postcards, a tutorial link for drawing Christmas Trees, Santa Hats, Ornament Balls, and Christmas Backgrounds. Make hand designed Christmas cards for your friends and family with this handy link guide to some great tutorials.

The Spanish-Teaching.com/blog is a blog for Students and Teachers of Spanish. The Spanish Christmas calendar is more than worth the trip :) Here is but one of the interesting facts held in this site: "In Spain, it's January 6th that children receive their presents left by the Three kings (Los, Reyes, and Magos) rather than Father Christmas or Santa Claus." Nativity scenes are widely used in Spain and often brilliant in design.

Christmas4All.blogspot.com is really a 2007 Christmas blog site but very informative. With posts on How to Say Merry Christmas in different languages, Christmas Prayers, and a link to the GatewayToJesus (which houses some incredible Christmas Blog Stories. Link to Thoughts-About-God.com that has a great representation of the Christmas Story with an awesome graphic image to go with this post.

ChristmasSprite.com is a Christmas Blog Site full of Christmas History, Traditions, Wallpapers, Games, Lyrics, and much more. The Christmas History includes the First Christmas Card, Christmas at the White House, Chronology of American Christmas, and History of the Ornament. Here is a bit of this history here: In Germany, some people hide a pickle shaped ornament very well in the tree (hidden last) on Christmas morning whomever is the first child to spot this pickle gets an extra surprise gift!

Blogs and Social Networks Photo Persuasion 3 or Tweak My Photo

Stevie has a great list of 5 photo fixer sites that we have been playing around with lately. She has designed some incredible brilliance with her selected "tweakable" photos :)

Here is an example of some of the creations Stevie made:

Check out more on Stevies MySpace

Most Photo Adjustment sites offer color tweaks, brightness, redeye fix, contrast, adding text or stickers but not all have animations. For animations visit MyTheme.

Stevie's 5 list:

Let's see what some of the "draws" to these sites are :)

PhixR.com
way fast to register, start to upload your pics straight away. The adjustment editing area is right there :) Here you can also transfer your photos from Live Journal, Image Shack, Buzznet, Drop Shots, Facebook, Flickr, Fotolog, SmugMug, Picasa, PhotoBucket, Fototopic.net, and WebShots. PhixR is another "no fluff" site becasue you are creating the fluff with your pics. PhixR is an photo adjustment site with photo effects like Oil Painting, Dot Art, Funnel, Charcoal Drawing, Black and White, and Spray. With these type effects, I just recommend playing around and having fun with a couple of photos to figure out what effects you like best. Blending or Mixing a photo with another is the huge draw to PhixR I think :) This is very cool, layered effects of one photo or another where you adjust the transparency of both. This feature isn't offered everywhere and some that do offer it are much more difficult to use than this one :) Also the fixer "Noise reduction" is brilliant here at PhixR, a tool used to get rid of the fuzzy stuff in a photo.

FlauntR.com Turn your photos into creations at FlauntR then apply them to mugs, hats, t-shirts, mouse pads, calendars, and more. Free to register, find out more about FlauntR on the show :)

MyTheme Online Photo Editor @ blibs.com Awesome photo editor and MySpace layouts and graphics arena :)

SoSauce.com
Name, email, password, birthday, and area code to register here with a confirmation email. Free to sign up Photo Sharing site geared toward Travelers, Historians, Local info, and Site Seer info. If you are looking for a great coffe shop in Paris, or a Winery tour in California, my thought would be to check here. Also, if you know of any great destinations and you have Photos to go with them, sign up and let others know here at SoSauce.

Picnik.com Free to use but even better when you register for free. Also an upgrade option. Way quick to sign up, no confirmation email.

Flickr.com is really a photo holding, friending, photo sharing site. But Flickr is one of the free holding sites for your "Tweaked" creations. And only about $25 a year for an upgraded pro account.

Our Blogs and Social Networks Photo Persuasion show has some great info for people needing to "adjust, tweak, fluff, dress up, sparkle out, resize, and/or change the formats" of your photo images. Add descriptions, keywords, even "tag" to add a live hyperlink to sections of your pictures.

Some of sites we discussed included my top 3 :)

Photobucket: One of the very best "all inclusive" photo sites. Only $3.95 a month or less than $40 a year to upgrade here at PhotoBucket but free to use and no pressures to upgrade ever :) Get prints, share albums, tweak and resize photos. Photobucket also has a great selection of Slide shows to put it all together :)

Slide: Is the bomb! :) Rocks for sure, more info on show, but Slide.com will put the purse, belt, and shoes on your photo outfitters for a great slide show :)

Flickr: One of the biggest Photo sharing, holding, and friending sites on the Internet.

PiccyFix: Top Photo site for format changes with much more.

Picnik: Tab Folders and Grass Picnik Welcomes You to Sign up for Free. With all the basics, why choose Picnik over the others? Try the "Create Tab" and see for yourself why Picnik is rockin'. Upload 5 photos at atime unless you want to go premium, then up to 100 at a time here about $25 a year for the upgrade to premium option with many perks.

SoSauce: Travel Geeks Global Curiosity Local Expertise

MyThemeAnimator @ blibs.com/editor: A link from MyTheme to the editor pages but MyTheme also has some awesome MySpace Layouts and Graphics.

FlauntR: From FotoDesk Professional Photo Editing Easy and Free

PhixR: The Online Photo Editor Choose to Sign Up for Free (only takes 15 seconds) No email hassles :)

We cover in depth what you can do where on the show :)

But for sure PiccyFix.com is the place I go for format changes from PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP. No registration here at PiccyFix, Instant and Free. You can choose to host your pics here or show them off in the gallery and PiccyFix can adjust your photos much more than just format changes :)

Resize, Rotate, Flip, Colorize, Crop, Tint, Adjust Brightness, Contrast, and Add Effects and Borders at PiccyFix :)

Blogs and Social Networks Music Sites

Project Playlist and Humble Voice are two outstanding sites. Project Playlist has been around for some time and in my opinion is the leader in widget based, carry your music to your blog or web site, music creator list based sites :)

Having a newer version that you can choose at Project Playlist is yet another update of the Internet Blogs and Social Networks World that I find notable. Project Playlist is now easier to navigate and now you can have your blog area to blog away about music or whatever. With 100 songs per playlist and as many separate lists as you want to take to any site via the Project Playlist HTML widgets, this sites portability and choice are hard to beat. Gain buddies, search for music by artist or title, use the pop out features of any playlist when you want to listen in, but not remain glued to the site.

Humble Voice on the other hand is still presently in Beta but watch this site grow by leaps and bounds! This is not only a music based site but an "Artist" site. A well thought out site for the "Arts" not only musicians and listeners but for photographers, videographers, writers, and "Creators" in general :) When creating your initial profile here at Humble Voice, you can choose between a photographer, writer, musician, videographer, artist, or other. Editing your profile is an optional detailed adventure (which I highly prize, this will give viewers a larger view of you and your work) or you can skip things and just tell a bit to keep it brief. Humble Voice has options to send messages, add friends, instant message right from the site (this will save you from having many other messaging systems open and focus more on the site you are on :), forward your profile to friends, bookmark, or block other users for privacy. Choosing photographer, muscian, artist, or writer allows you to add on multiple pages for a bit of a "web site" creation to showcase your imaginations.

Visit HumbleVoice.com/TeenGirlsRadio to view my site and make friends :)

See You There!

Blogs and Social Networks Fanbox

Fanbox is a very unique social network. When you log into Fanbox it resembles (or rather, looks just like ;) your desktop! You can share files with others and also keep your files in storage right on Fanbox. Instant message capabilities in Yahoo, AIM, GMail, and MSN all at once without any downloads. IM others right on Fanbox to meet new friends. On Fanbox, your friends are listed as "fans". Adding applications to your site is a similarity to Facbook as are the "Pings". Pings are somewhat like a Facebook "Poke" and allow you to Poke, Wink, Hug, and Smack your fans. There is an asking questions feature here as well with questions like "Whats Your Favorite Color?" ready to go or type up your own.

As always with social network sites, watch out for the ones who are just there to "hook up". Unless of course, that is your goal as well, either way, just be sure to portray yourself accordingly :)

Blogs and Social Networks HTML Graphic Sites

Blogs and Social Networks MySpace Comment and Graphics Sites

On our Blog Talk Radio Show we talked about MySpace Comments and graphics Sites called MySpace and other Social Networks HTML Code Comments. We hit on which Social Networks take which comments, which blogs house and play the HTML comments, which sites to go to for great Christmas comments, Days of the Week graphics, Howdy’s, Happy Faces, Awesome Jesus Graphics, where to find Racy comments for someone you Love, Friendship Graphics, Quote comments and more.

Some of the HTML comment sites will more Racy or even negative HTML comments so we will try to give you the heads up on these sites. Most of the HTML comment and graphic sites have mass advertising as there HTML comments, graphics, and layouts are free to use, they then have a way to fund their sites :) Most also have some sort of autoplay video, songs, or something to also advertise those types of media. Many sites for HTML graphics and comments also have layouts, backgrounds, contact tables, generators, and much more.

MySpace Junks

You can Google Search MySpace Comments, MySpace Graphics, or HTML Coments for a massive listing but MySpaceJunks.com is the first site we covered on our show.
MySpace Junks for comments also work well on the blog social networks at Ning. Many comment sites do not work well on the Ning site at present but most of the ones we will list here are fine :) MySpace Junks Thank You 4 The Add Comments, located on the right column side, also give you a step by instruction, so no worries with this site and the how to questions, they have the answers here. Graphics here can be used on MySpace, Xanga, Friendster, Live Journal, and personal websites or the Ning blog social networks. MySpace Junks has many awesome Christmas graphics so you won’t be stuck for a great one visiting this array of twenty-six pages of Christmas comments. They also have a good selection of Halloween, Easter, and St. Patricks Day graphics, with thirty pages of quotes as well. MySpace Junks has Carebears, Best Friends (BFF), and twenty-one pages of Happy Birthday comments. This site has only about a thirty percent content being somewhat on the racy side, so to avoid viewing any racy comments, don’t click on the catagories like sexy images, etc.

Pimp-My-Profile

Pimp-My-Profile.com also has advertisements to fund their site, but again all of Pimp My Profile’s content is free to use. They have layouts as well for Friendster, MySpace, and The Forum Site. The “tweaking” feature here for layouts is beyond the best as it creates an area for non HTML users to actually fluff their profiles however they want. Pimp My Profile also has Spanish Language comments, an adder system that lets you post these graphic comments directly to MySpace pages, Friendster, Facebook, Orkut, Bebo, Tagged, WordPress, My Yearbook, and a long list of more blogs and social networks sites, also the BBCode to post on forum sites as well. Pimp My Profile has raining or falling graphic HTML codes that work great on MySpace, banner generators, surveys, and HTML generators who aren’t quite sure about HTML. At Pimp My Profile, look to the cool generators, layouts and tweaking them, and Spanish Language comments. They do not have a great selection where Christmas and religious comments come in, but it houses some of my personal favorite Thanks For the Add, Thanks, Thanks for the Comment Comments and layouts. About forty percent of the site is a bit on the mature side.

Wish A Friend

I have been visiting Wish A Friend for quite awhile and thought we would go over what they have to offer. First quote comments, beautiful Bible quotes, Christmas, and Halloween graphics, very family friendly site with very nearly a zero percent for racy comments and graphics. Good political comments are easy to find here as well, so if you are looking for an all inclusive, clean, family safe comments, polls, countdown clocks, calendars, poems, contact tables, raining or falling objects HTML code site, you have it with Wish A Friend. They have a choice of generators, clocks, Hi 5 layouts, MySpace smileys, Blogger templates, Friendster and Orkut fun, with an awesome selection choice. Ning blog social network friendly as well.

Cool Christian Graphics

Onto Christian-MySpace-Layouts.com for some incredible choice layouts and graphics. This is a long to load sort of a site but is well worth the wait for selection. CoolChristianGraphics.com has some of the very best (my personal favorites are here) straight up Christian graphics around anywhere. A very large selection of the most unique and perfect Christian comments.

My Hot Comments

My Hot Comments has a great selection of Military comments, get well wishes, and comments for your significant others. My Hot Comments also has a good selection of ecards and layouts, but has a high percentage of more racy comments and graphics.

My Girly Space

The very first HTML comment and graphic site I visited was My Girly Space and this site is loaded with smileys, 3D chat, flash animation, MySpace cursors, Friendster editor, layouts, generators, My Girly Space news, applications like the very popular Bumper Stickers and Funny Quote of the Day or Random Fact of the Day applications, and of course, graphics, comments, and HTML to spare with a racy percentage of between thirty and forty.

Sparkle Tags

If you are looking for some unique, very cool HTML comments and graphics, Sparkle Tags will have just that. An outstanding choice of Military comments, generators, backgrounds, music skins, contact tables, and network banners along with Sparkle Tags videos and a host of great layouts. The fluttering butterfly graphics are very nice and hands down a winner. Sparkle Tags is also quite compatible with the Ning blog social networks, Hi 5, MySpace, Live Journal, and Friendster. They also have a free download toolbar for hot news, top links, online radio, fun gadgets, and a Google Search.

Comments Planet is a fairly high percentaged racy sort of site for anyone searching for a more mature comment or two.

Comments Heaven

A quick search for MySpace kids HTML comments and graphics found another great site, Comments Heaven. Free image hosting, quotes, greetings, sports, all about HTML graphics and comments here with a sprinkling of flash, MySpace, Hi 5 and Friendster layouts.

Profile Pitstop

With Profile Pitstop you can create a map, get quotes, HTML generators, MySpace layouts sectioned and categorized for guys, girls, retro, and simple, with every kind of MySpace help for coding and in general you will need to get your MySpace page in order. This is the big plus at Profile Pitstop.

MySpace Picture Codes

For a plethora of College Logo graphics, MySpace Picture Codes is the place that will house these HTML codes for you. Thirty one pages so your College is quite likely to be represented.

Now that you can locate these awesome profile comments and fun, leave a few on your friends pages to send them a smile, Happy Birthday, Good Monday, College Logo for their team, Thanks For The Add, or Get Well wishes. Some profiles are set to not accept HTML codes only text, these people are generally wishing to cut their page load times and some graphic images are in script instead of HTML. Many blogs and social networks don’t yet accept script. Blogger, Vox, Live Journal, Ning, and WordPress posts all like HTML graphic codes, so have fun with the coding.

Blogs and Social Networks Move Over MySpace and Facbook

Move over MySpace and Facebook, people are starting to lose the "taste" for the really big Social Networks and want to "Have it Their Way", you know, hold the pickle, a bit more ketchup, but in this case... Lets turn a "Huge Group" from MySpace or Facebook into a Social Network! Instead of visiting a Mass Social Network to find your group, you will either create your own Group Social Network or join an existing one centered around your interest!

Sort of "Reverse Social Networking" but if you give it some thought, it is really the way it was going in the beginning. Take a look at how Forum sites got started, by topic, by a group of like minded individuals, seekers of conversation :)

The Forum would usually cover a broad topic and each conversation or "thread" would then funnel the topic down to a more specific conversation title. Well, thats whats happening and with a Bang at the Blog Social Networks like Ning and Wetpaint!

People are gathering all of their chosen "colored blocks" from the Internet bin and putting them all in a handy sorting tank set up as a Blog Social Network. What am I saying about these bin blocks? Each category or "color" block, sorted out into music, sports, business, photography, art, beach lovers, snowmen, or any topic really is either kept as a large category or narrowed down even further into sub categories. All blue blocks for instance, or all sky blue blocks. Sub categories could include things like a specific band or music style, a type of health and wellness business, a site for marketing or a site for marketing home based businesses, computer software or software specific to learning.

Blog Social Networks or group topic Social Networks are growing by leaps and bounds and are quite on fire these days, where about a year or so ago they were usually smaller sites interactive with existing reality groups, meaning teachers and their students, sports teams, hobbyists in the here and now who get together regularly to meet but needed a site to communicate through when they were apart.

The Wikis at Wetpaint and the Group Social Ning Networks are varied and cover many topics. Over one million Wetpaint Wikis today and growing and many Ning sites as well. Most sites like this have a discussion or forum area, messaging between members, friending capabilities, a personal profile area, community home page, a page to keep you up to date with the sites "Whats New", pretty much the same sorts of set ups as the MySpace and Facebook mega sites.

The drawbacks are minimal at this point, but some of these drawbacks to the "Minor" Social Networks can be devastating. What if the owner of the site suddenly decides to shut it down? Yes, delete it off the Internet. Well, it happens but this leaves you with the choice to then create your own. This particular drawback does not and will not readily happen with the MySpaces and Facebooks of the net.

The "Have It Your Way" Blog Social Networks are cool to join because you are focused upon attendance. For instance, at a "Major" Social Network like MySpace, you are generally on different discussion topics with many different types of friends. Some may be business type friends, some are in the gardening group you belong to, some talk to you about photography, others you met through Twitter or through blogging. So, you are faced with many topics and many people all at the same time instead of talking about only one or two subjects and focusing on the issues. After about an hour or so (maybe less), you may feel a bit scattered with the larger Social Networks.

With the smaller "Have It Your Way" Blog Social Networks, there is a given discussion line. You visit these sites to see whats happening on that particular topic, not scattered through a realm of topical discussion at a "Major" Social Network. Are you planning to visit New York, New York City, or Central Park? Are you going to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida or the Magic Kingdom? A much more narrow spectrum where you can usually find the information you seek quite readily with the Blog Social Networks.

I have found a few very good ones that I will list below:
