Blogs and Social Networks Springing Up Like Mushrooms

Holy Cow! When Stevie and I first started reviewing Blogs and Social Networks about 2 years ago, the list was completable but quite daunting. With the speed of new sites popping up weekly, daily, no ... hourly, the list of reviews is completely endless and impossible to secure by a Mother and Daughter team alone. This never ending stream of new sites, updated older ones, and Social Networks up and coming out of the horizon is nothing short of an emerging army.

This weeks show on will cover the highlights of the newness, changes and updates of some of the power house sites like MyBlogLog, MySpace, Facebook, and some of the Google Services, along with some news and updates from Wetpaint, Utterz, Twitter helper sites and more.

Sunday, July 20, 2008 With Salmon Rushdie

Release and enhance your intellectual side with What a line up of broadcast speakers! Donald Trump, Salmon Rushdie, Michael Bloomberg, Sam Gosling, with topics covering Africa, Globalization, Peace and Conflict, The Muslim World, Culture, Business, Science, and Politics. Enjoy Salmon Rushdies discussion of Machiavelli and how profound a human need it is to have your story told.

I was listening to Salmon Rushdie through speak about Machiavelli and the whole theory "shoot the messenger" rap Machiavelli got after he watched and observed power and wrote about power.

Machiavelli's home town was Florence, Italy.

Salmon Rushdie was commenting how Machiavelli was not very Machiavellian :)

Machiavelli's "The Prince" political expediency is placed above morality and the use of lies and sneakiness or craft and deceit to maintain authority and to carry out the rulers policies.

Machiavelli understood the nature of power.

The definition of Machiavellian- characterized by subtle or up-front cunning, deception, expediency, or dishonesty.

The profound human need of having their story told.

Take the time to listen to the need of a story heard :)

Podcasting and You

Podcasting allows you to publish audio or video on the web. Which then allows others to subscribe to your media and get automatic updates

Podcasting is really digital video and audio recordings that you make available to others online. Stevie and I will focus on computer based podcasting in this posting series, with sites like, Audacity, Utterz, and Blog Talk Radio.

ITunes is a major podcasters dream along with IPods, IPhones, and your PC.

ITunes is free to download and only takes just a few seconds.

Now, Blog Talk Radio is also free with no download required, but two very different usages here.

ITunes, generally podcasters "take" from this site meaning they download free podcasts, music, movies, TV shows, applications, and audio books from the ITunes Store seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day allowing people to sync their IPhones and IPods or just have the content on their PCs. Where Blog Talk Radios host users, like Stevie and I with Blogs and Social Networks, input good content for others to be able to download and play at their convenience and also download shows as well. So, there is more of a "give" and "take" at Blog Talk Radio than at ITunes. Listeners using Blog Talk Radio for news, information, entertainment, education, and when they find a really great show they want to subscribe to. They can do all of this at ITunes :) See how this all fits together? When you subscribe to a show on Blog Talk Radio using ITunes, you can be alerted or just have the new shows download automatically.

Also, with Blog Talk Radio, there is a free toolbar download option with easy access to log in, what shows are on the air live, whats popular, the best of Blog Talk Shows, and the Featured shows right now. Easy access to your favorites and friends lists on Blog Talk Radio :)

Social Network Outages

Social Network Outages
Has anyone even noticed the amount of Social Network Outages lately? Is everyone doing updates at the same time, during the same two weeks? MyBlogLog? Utterz? Hi 5? PageSwirl? Facebook? Wetpaint? Pownce? and More? Yes, we all have experienced the daily Twitter glitches from too many Tweets at a time, but.... There is an awful lot of sites going down for a bit and taking a vacation of sorts to regroup, don't you think?

I am not one to guess or anticipate the reason why these sites are all updating during the same time frame, but... hmmmm... Quite curious I think... Are we experiencing droves of newcomers to the Social Networking World and the sites need to take a breath to catch up? Or are we all getting set up for bigger and better things ahead? I will keep in touch with this topic and find out more.
